The GVTC Foundation 2023 Review

Our mission at The GVTC Foundation is to profoundly enhance the quality of life in the communities served by GVTC through charitable contributions and volunteering.  As a 100% volunteer-operated organization, it takes the efforts of many volunteers and supporters. We are elated to have such an amazing group that works together to complete our projects and initiatives. 

In addition to our volunteers, our donors and supporters contribute to our success. Monetary contributions increase the impact, and $.93 of every dollar raised is being invested in our local community. With the many non-profit organizations out there, we are thrilled that you have chosen to support The GVTC Foundation. 

If you have not already committed and been a part of the amazing work we do, I invite you to join our foundation’s efforts and initiatives throughout the year, whether it be as a donor or a volunteer. Trust that our foundation is working to truly make a difference in the community where we live and work. 

In 2023, The GVTC Foundation granted over 135 organizations more than $450,000 in monetary support!  We attended over 115 community events, contributing over 15,000 volunteer hours to our nonprofit partners. In total, over 29,000 volunteer hours were contributed to the community. The passion in each of these individuals is incredible. They possess servant’s hearts and are committed to making a difference. 

Every spring, GVTC hosts The Annual GVTC Charitable Golf Classic that benefits The GVTC Foundation. The 2023 Annual GVTC Charitable Golf Classic, presented by OnTrac, Inc., raised over $242,000! The event has raised over $2.1 million since its inception. Thanks to the continued support of vendors and business partners, the foundation can make a significant impact on the community with the funds raised. 

The GVTC Foundation hosted our 11th annual Thanksgiving Give Back Project, which is our largest community project. We work to provide a complete, traditional Thanksgiving meal to families selected by local food pantries who are experiencing hardship. With the help of community partnerships, we work with individuals, youth, and community organizations to collect food items and monetary donations. Meals are then hand-delivered, providing a personalized touch. We exceeded our goal of 500 families this year. Since the project’s inception, we have provided for 3,249 families. Thank you to all who participated in making this event successful.

We held our first-ever community fundraiser this year, The GVTC Foundation Game Day 5K, which raised over $14,000. Over 175 individuals ran across stunning hill country trails on the beautiful Knibbe Ranch while sporting their favorite team colors. After the race, participants enjoyed games, treats from food vendors, and adults sampled beverages from local alcohol distributors. We also celebrated with awards given out to the top winners. We are grateful for the local sponsors who made the Game Day 5K a hit! We can't wait for the 2024 Game Day 5k, so keep an eye out for more details coming soon!

We are so grateful for the support we receive. 87% of GVTC Employees participate in the payroll deduction program, and 100% of the GVTC Directors contribute, all of which GVTC matches at 150%. Our customers support the foundation as well, with over 11% of GVTC Customers participating in the Round Up for Change Program. Our actions speak volumes, and our community recognizes it. We were honored to receive several accolades and recognitions from several different organizations. We were named one of the top nonprofits at the San Antonio Business Journal Nonprofit & Corporate Philanthropy Awards. We were among the 12 standout organizations celebrated for our incredible contributions to the community.  All the awards received are a big nod to our dedication and the impact we've been making in the neighborhoods we serve. We're all about sparking positive change and making real differences in people's lives.
