The GVTC Foundation Raises Over $14,000 from Inaugural Game Day 5K Event

The GVTC Foundation is excited to announce that its inaugural community charity event, the Game Day 5K, raised over $14,000!  As a testament to its steadfast commitment to fostering community involvement and diversifying fundraising efforts, The GVTC Foundation orchestrated an event that not only provided an invigorating and unforgettable experience but also united participants around a shared cause.

The GVTC Foundation Game Day 5K drew in individuals, families, and friends together for a day of physical activity, camaraderie, and spirited celebration. Participants ran, strolled, or walked alongside their loved ones and donned the vibrant colors and logos of their favorite high school, college, or professional sports teams, infusing the event with an electrifying Game Day atmosphere. The Knibbe Ranch, renowned for its captivating natural beauty, offered a unique running route encompassing both paved and trail segments. Attendees reveled in the stunning hill country scenery, caught glimpses of local wildlife, and embraced the spirit of the occasion.

The post-race celebration, held upon crossing the finish line, was a vibrant affair, replete with delectable food offerings, refreshing beverages, engaging games, and more. The festivities culminated in a heartwarming awards ceremony, where exceptional runners were presented with medals, further amplifying the sense of achievement and camaraderie.

Reflecting on the event's success, Sonia Aguillon, President of The GVTC Foundation, remarked, "The Game Day 5K has exceeded our expectations and has solidified its place as a unique platform for community members to come together and support a worthy cause. The GVTC Foundation remains dedicated to uplifting our community, and this event encapsulated that mission in a dynamic and engaging way."

As a part of its commitment to nurturing the future, The GVTC Foundation awarded a $1,000 scholarship to the youth program that had the most spirit. Congratulations to the Spring Branch Middle School Cross Country Team. The Pieper Cheer Team was also given a $500 sponsorship for cheering on our runners and adding a whole new level of excitement to the day. These contributions reflect The GVTC Foundation's commitment to empowering the youth and investing in their growth.

The GVTC Foundation extends its profound appreciation to the sponsors whose generous support brought the Game Day 5K to fruition.

Ritchie Sorrells, President and CEO of GVTC, stated, "The Game Day 5K exemplifies the spirit of collaboration and unity that defines The GVTC Foundation. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the sponsors and attendees who embraced this event and its underlying purpose."
